COLLECTOR'S NOTE:
This four-piece set was produced by Johnson Brothers, a Staffordshire pottery renowned for its durable ironstone and refined postwar glazes. The slightly different marks—two stamped “JB England” and two “Johnson Brothers Made in England Ironstone”—reflect sequential production runs from the 1940s–60s rather than a mismatch. The earlier “JB” mark was often used for export wares in the 1940s–50s, while the full stamp appeared on later pieces from the same mold and glaze series. The vivid “Apple Green” (also known as Jade Green) glaze exemplifies mid-century English tableware’s transition toward color-saturated modernism, which is still collectible today.
