It sits atop a hard wood lacquered wooden stand for its display and actual use.. These large planter urns are traditionally used to keep carp contained in the winter, but nowadays they are more often used as planters or as decorative objects displayed alone or on a stand.

The sophisticated indoor planter is made from fine-quality porcelain with a high-luster gold finish and hand-painted black detailing. The bowl has a flat gold leaved lip on its crest that is approximately 1" wide. The inside to the bowl is porcelain white. There is no makers mark that can be identified on this 1990s sophisticated vessel. It is presumed to be made in China.
