Beautiful Vase by J.B. Cole of North Carolina. J.B. Cole established his own pottery shop in 1922 in Steeds, North Carolina.
This Vase is the distinctive, shape and color of J.B. Cole at the height of his career with its distinctive high gloss blue-green glaze. It is in excellent condition.
The vase is 9" high and 6.5" in diameter. It is not stamped, but "35" is written in pencil on the bottom. The bottom is unfinished, but the North Carolina, red-cream clay shows prominently.
The bottom also shows what we believe to be the distinctive "belt-sander" marks on the base.
When we purchased the vase, it contained the shown label stating, "JB Cole Pottery, Steeds NC (near Seagrove) 1930-1940 Turquoise glaze, hand-thrown, 9 1/2 " See pg. 38 of Catalogue".
