Designed by dutch design supremo gerard van den berg and produced by montis in the 1970s, this extremely comfortable delantra lounge chair will add gorgeous light colouring, outstanding quality and design interest, and a superb mid-century boho aesthetic to any interior.

modern dutch design owes a huge amount to van den berg’s mould-breaking designs, as this hugely attractive, wonderfully individual, and extremely comfortable lounge chair perfectly illustrates. Its sculptural curves, lack of straight lines and plump-yet-sleek, bottom-heavy, scooped-out, curving a-frame design is a breath of fresh air and like nothing else. And the design choice to incorporate the natural element of a woven rattan base covering really enhances and invigorates its look, making this swivel lounge chair a real mid century modernist head-turner and setting it apart from more cubist-like, post-war mid-century predecessors and competitors.

all in all this superb leather swivel lounge chair is a wonderful example of mould-breaking 1970s design, which won’t fail to add superb comfort, gorgeously rich colouring and a knockout impression and mid-century boho aesthetic to any setting.

condition
this super lounge chair is in fair-to-good vintage condition. Solid, sturdy, structurally sound and expertly crafted by montis, it has to-be-expected marks and wear to the excellent quality leather including rubbing to the rear shoulder corners and historic cat scratches to the leather, which are more noticeable on close inspection and have been considered in the pricing of this extremely rare chair. The leather has been treated to keep it rejuvenated and looking its best and overall it’s a wonderful and rare lounge chair in pretty good vintage condition, and if well looked after it should remain just as appealing for generations to come – please see the photos.
