Their whimsical designs quickly gained popularity, leading to the birth of a family tradition.

In the same year, the company "Soffieria De Carlini" was established, inspired by its originator, Mr. Enrico De Carlini. Today, after more than 75 years, "Soffieria De Carlini" has evolved to meet the changes of modern society while still respecting the traditions of glassworking art. This allows the company to continue offering unique and original ornaments, all handcrafted and made exclusively in Italy.

One of their delightful creations is "Egghead," a handblown Mercury glass ornament featuring an adorable bird with big eyes and an eggshell on its head. This ornament is incredibly rare and fragile; unfortunately, many have not survived the test of time. Amazingly, this piece is in good condition, although it does have two missing toes—please refer to the magnified photos for details. The bird's hands, feet, nose, and tail are intact, and the cap may be a replacement where the glassblower cut the glass. For a vintage mercury glass ornament, this truly is a work of art and a rare find— a crown jewel in any collection. Circa 1950s.
