Handmade in the 1970s–1980s, this piece captures the romantic character of classical European art with a distinctly California studio flair. Paper label on the reverse reads “Pompeii – Chico, California – Made in U.S.A.” indicating hand-crafted production from recycled clay and wood pulp. The surface shows intentional distressing that enhances its antique effect, giving it the look of aged carved wood or gilded plaster. A built-in wire hanger on the back allows easy wall display. Beautiful displayed above a console, mantel, or entryway mirror, or as part of a gallery wall where its sculptural form and gilded patina catch the light.
