Drop dead gorgeous brass peacock fireplace screen in solid brass with intricately cut filigree fan blades that splay out (reminiscent of a peacock) to create a large screen. Solid brass, heavy center base with cast cameo of a victorian style woman.
Fan blades fold in and out with little effort, though they will sometimes get stuck due to the design of the blades being cut out metal. Very sturdy, solid, heavy piece! No wobbling! Fan blades are secured in place just from friction when closed, there were formerly small bars that held the fan blades in place, but the are no longer there and are not necessary or noticeable without. See photos for details.
This piece has not been polished in order to keep the patina, however it could be polished up to reveal a brighter gold color if desired. It has been lightly cleaned/dusted and is ready to shine in its next home.
Solid and sturdy, the screen will not knock over easily. Screen does have a tilt to the left, however this can be remedied by applying small furniture pads to the feet on the left side. Fans can sometimes get stuck, requiring a little jiggling to get them loose, this is typical of most peacock fan style fireplace screens.
This is a HEAVY piece and is so well constructed!
