Design Plus Gallery presents a Hand Blown Glass Sculpture with Iron Stand by Artist Scott Summerfield. This sculpture is created with many blown glass components. In the cold shop, they are cut, ground, polished, and assembled. Once assembled, the artist wrapped areas in colored hemp and then construct a steel stand by hand.
About the Artist :
Scott Summerfield is a glass artist based in Western North Carolina who creates hand-blown glass and sculptural works. His work is known for its "bold color, crisp line, and symmetrical balance". The artist's process involves beginning in a hot shop where he works with molten glass, sometimes rolling it in metallic leaves or blowing it into optic molds. Each piece is then cut, ground, polished, and assembled in a cold shop.
