A superb combination of … Read more Stunning mid-century modern sommerso glass vase designed by Flavio Poli for Alessandro Mandruzzato (Murano, Italy, 1960s/1970s). A superb combination of dark grey encased in an angular block of transparent glass, using the renowned Venetian Sommerso technique. Beautifully faceted glass. The vase is extremely decorative. Labelled (can be removed if needed).

Mandruzzato is well-known for producing exceptional geometric and cubic-shaped art glass pieces.

"Sommerso" is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
