A richly detailed example of late 19th-century design, featuring finely hand-engraved floral medley motifs, Northwind faces on the four feet, and Classical busts on the double handles. The bottom is marked “MF’D & PLATED BY REED & BARTON 2568 DESIGN PAT’D APRIL 18, 1871 GILT.”

Originally produced with a lid and ceramic liner (which are missing), this piece was once gilded, though the gold finish has worn to reveal the silver-plated base beneath. Age related wear includes overall tarnishing, slight corrosion stains, and small surface marks, as shown in the photos.

A fine decorative object in its own right, this unique bowl also lends itself for repurposing as a spooner, vanity organizer, or small planter.
