Stunning and rare sommerso glass vase designed by the pioneer of Swedish glass art, Vicke Lindstrand and produced by Kosta … Read more Stunning and rare sommerso glass vase designed by the pioneer of Swedish glass art, Vicke Lindstrand and produced by Kosta (Sweden, 1960s). This beautiful vase is made of thick navy blue glass encased in pale grey layer and surrounded by clear glass. It is extremely decorative. Signed "Kosta LH 1828". Quite rare as these vases on the market are usually much smaller.

Height: 10.8''; width: 3.9''; depth: 2.8''. Quite heavy (2.7 kg). Very good vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. Light wear consistent with age and use. Some scratches.

"Sommerso" (Italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in Murano which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
