Born during the turn of the century in the archipelago of Orkney off of the northern coast of Scotland, this canopy chair features a tall hooded handwoven strack back, designed to protect the sitter from the cold winds of the North Sea. Two open, slightly serpentine arms rest on a rectangular framed rush seat. The chair is raised on four tapering straight legs, connected to one another through plain side stretchers.
