Tom Shiner, FAIA, designed this chair from two African ebony boards. He was inspired by chairs of Koloman Moser and the art movement known as the Vienna Secession. Shiner studied furniture design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and founded the company MUSEUM & LIBRARY FURNITURE.
A reinforcing truss gives the chair strength and an architectonic quality. A unique work of American design, the chair is a sculpture for sitting.
