This beauty was made in France in late 19th century, in Jacobean Renaissance style. Superb lines and form, made out of solid Oak, featuring a phenomenal carved design on the the top of the backrest, a pair of birds picking from the fruit basket. Sides are in a form of barley twist columns, matching the legs and the stretcher. Adding to splendor is gorgeous antique French tapestry type needlepoint upholstery with "Love Birds" motifs on seat and backrest. Great combination of wood and needlepoint is complimented with bronze / brass tack nails. Previous owner has used it first as a desk, and afterwords as a vanity table chair. The chair is in overall good condition, solid construction, shows light signs of age / use wear, antique repair (please see photos). Measurements are 47" tall back, the widest point is 20", and it is 20" deep, while the seat is 17.5" in height. Gorgeous piece that will work great in any traditional or mid-century modern setting!
