BEAUTIFUL CARINGTON BOWLES COLOR STONE LITHOGRAPH
CA. 1775

About 9 1/4" x 17 1/2" sight size. 15 1/2" x 24" overall.
DESCRIPTION
Matted, glazed and framed in a contemporary birds-eye maple wooden frame. Full title and credits read "I. Rigaud delin. / Veue du Chateau Seaux / A Prospect of the Palace of Seaux / Printed for & Sold by Carington Bowles at his Map & Print Warehouse No. 69 in St. Pauls Church Yard. London." I. Rigaud for artist Jacques Rigaud (1681-1754). Proper spelling of Seaux in French is Sceaux. Shows a variety of figures strolling the grounds of the chateaux. Hand colored. I found many examples of other versions of the Chateau Seaux that Carington Bowles produced. But I could not locate a single example extant of this print.
