The vase is an ornate, handled porcelain urn. It features a hand-painted medallion on the front depicting three women, possibly from a classical or mythological scene. The vase itself is white with extensive gold detailing and painted pink floral motifs. It has two large, scrolling gold handles and a two-tiered base, also decorated with gilding and pink flowers. It is in the "Royal Vienna" style, which is a highly decorative Neoclassical style of porcelain that was popular in the late 19th century.
The Austrian artist, Wagner, came from a family of painters who worked for the KPM (Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur) in Berlin and also painted for the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. He was active between 1894 and 1908 and is known for detailed and opulent porcelain decorations. See less
