It was characterized … Read more Brutalism is a style in architecture and furniture design that was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It was characterized by monumental, blocky, and sculptural construction, as well as clear, solid forms without delicate decoration. In furniture design, woods with coarse grain were primarily used, often left unrefined or deliberately "unfinished." Our two chairs probably date from the 1970s. They are of Swiss origin. They are of good, heavy quality. The solid spruce wood has been stained dark and varnished. They are in very good condition, with a beautiful patina. A professional restorer repaired a damaged area on one chair and reinforced the backrest from below. Seat height 44 cm. See less
