The back features a gently curved tablet crest rail over a lattice openwork panel and hand-carved lion's paw motifs positioned as supports where the armrests meet the front legs. This unique placement, distinct from the typical paw foot, is a sign of the bespoke craftsmanship of the era. The arms sweep outwards and terminate in classic scroll volutes. The front legs are turned and tapered above an abbreviated foot, while the rear legs utilize the elegant curve of a sabre form.

Made from a rich, dark wood, most likely mahogany or a high-quality hardwood with a beautiful, aged patina commensurate to its age. Appears to have been re-upholstered sometime during the mid-20th century with an elegant, striped fabric in deep forest green, vivid red, and gold tones and a brass nailhead trim. See less
