This line of … Read more This is a 10.75 inch round dinner plate made in Mexico in the 1950s in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco. This line of pottery featured four variations, each showing a scene of daily life in hand painted images on the plates. This one shows a Mexican farmer, harvesting prickly pears from a cactus. An agave plant can also be seen in the scenery. Pottery with this blue color scheme is much rarer than pieces in red or green of the same time period. See less

It appears that this was corrected on the backside, as there is a squiggle that is darker as if to cover a crack when originally fired. The edge of the plate has a few rough spots, but this is in part due to the texture of the clay. less
