This one-of-a-kind set exemplifies Alves’ signature artistic style, merging colorful mosaic artistry with organic sculptural metalwork.

The table features a large, hand-cut mosaic top in the shape of a leaf, rendered in vibrant shades of red, yellow, green, and blue tile with intricate detailing and dynamic composition. The sculptural green-painted metal base continues the leaf motif, flowing gracefully in Alves’ characteristic style. The set includes four matching metal chairs with bold, openwork leaf silhouettes, creating an expressive and whimsical garden-inspired design.

The table is signed and dated “Carlos Alves 91” on a ceramic plaque embedded in the table edge — a hallmark of authenticity from one of Miami’s most recognized mosaic artists, whose work appears in numerous public art installations across South Florida.

CARLOS ALVES is an internationally recognized artist known primarily for his ceramic, mosaic, metal, and glass site-specific installations in the public art arena as well as residential and commercial commissions. Drawing from his Cuban roots and his Miami, Florida, upbringing, Alves explores themes of love, hope, history, culture, politics, nature, and kinship with the sea.

Alves graduated with an MFA from Illinois State University and a BFA from the University of Miami. He also was the recipient of a scholarship to Scuola Lorenzo Di Medici in Florence, Italy. He started his post-college career with a free-flowing tile installation located on the floor and walls of the Art Center South Florida. The project eventually led to commissions by several public and private clients in the United States, London, and Hong Kong. His artwork can be seen in public art settings such as airports, parks, fountains, courthouses, libraries, restaurants, galleries, and in private residences. See less
