This antique pewter wall salt box dates to the 19th century and features a cylindrical body with simple line decoration and a shaped backplate with hanging hole. Traditionally hung near the hearth, these salt boxes kept coarse salt close at hand for cooking. Displays a beautifully aged pewter patina with surface wear consistent with age. A fine example of early kitchen and household pewter.
This salt box measures 9" in height, 7" in width, and 3" deep.
