Sgraffito is done by carving through a layer of glaze or slip to reveal the clay body underneath. Each vase is done by hand so there's no two alike. Lapid Pottery has a very Mid Century esthetic but with its own identity because of the colors and archaeology of the desert. Lapid Pottery was fired to 1250c which adds to its strength. This is a wonderful large piece for your collection. I have never seen one this large. See less
