An exceptional Meiji-period Japanese porcelain vase attributed to the Fukagawa studio, featuring a refined hexagonal form and a rare factory-applied silver collar. Dating to circa 1890, this piece showcases the sophisticated Imari-style palette for which Fukagawa is celebrated, combining delicate overglaze enamels in iron red, soft green, yellow, and aubergine with gilt highlights throughout.

Each of the six arched panels alternates between landscape scenes—depicting pine-covered riverbanks, stylized mountains, and rustic thatched dwellings—and floral compositions of peonies and chrysanthemums, traditional symbols of wealth and longevity. The shoulder is richly enameled in deep red with reserves of seasonal flower sprays and gilt roundels, while the neck features stylized phoenix birds among arabesque foliage in soft celadon green.

The sterling silver mount at the neck is factory-original, fitted seamlessly and enhancing the vase's elegant proportions. Vessels such as this were often made for export to elite Western retailers and exhibitions, demonstrating Japan’s merging of craftsmanship with luxury materials.
