A striking and finely crafted Victorian novelty box in the form of an oversized gentleman’s pocket watch, made in England circa 1880. This whimsical object reflects the Victorian fascination with mechanical forms and inventive design, likely intended as a gentleman’s desk or curio box.

Rendered entirely in polished brass, the box features a rounded full-hunter silhouette with a domed lid that opens smoothly on a concealed piano-style hinge. The top is crowned by a lathe-turned faux winding crown and a fixed circular bow handle, mimicking the structure of a classic pocket watch. A small scalloped thumb tab at the base aids in opening the lid.
