Sonia Delaunay ( 1885 - 1979 ) born Sarah Llintchna Stern, was a Jewish Ukrainian born French artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris. She was formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design. She co-founded The Orphism Art Movement, known for its use of strong colors and geometric shapes, with her husband artist Robert Delaunay.
