Antique 19th century ceramic Aragonesa bowl from Teruel, Spain, dating from the mid 19th century.
A sought after collector's item known here in Spain as a "cuenco o lebrillo de cerámica antigua" (bowl or basin of antique pottery). The bowl features the typical green and manganese tones and has a beautiful rich deep patina.
Argonesa ceramics are known for their rich history and distinctive style, particularly from the Teruel region of Spain. The bowl features hand-painted floral decorations, which are characteristic of traditional ceramic artistry of the Mediterranean. The bowl shows signs of age, wear, around the edges and a general crackling in the glaze consistent with its age.
