Excellent ceramic piece in the tradition of michael powolny: standing putto, dressed only in a short-sleeved vest and belt, with … Read more Excellent ceramic piece in the tradition of michael powolny: standing putto, dressed only in a short-sleeved vest and belt, with a feather crown on his blond curls, a small bow and quiver with arrows in his hands, supported between his legs by a bouquet of blue bellflowers and a bird. On a slightly curved, round base with fluting on the sides. Originally designed as the finial for a round stove. Manufactured by sommerhuber steyr, upper austria ceramic, red earthenware, polychrome glazes designed and made 1925/1930 marks: 'rs' + 'fs' in ligature 'steyr' dimensions: height: 32,0 cm / 12.59 in width: 17,0 cm / 6.69 in depth: 15,0 cm / 5.90 in bibliography: elisabeth frottier, michael powolny, keramik und glas aus wien 1900 bis 1950 (= ceramic and glass from vienna 1900 to 1950); page 99, ovens for 'sommerhuber', page 141, 3.
