A 20th Century Oil on Canvas reproduction of "The Good Shepherd" by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo.
The painting depicts the Christ Child as the Good Shepherd, a theme alluding to the passage in the Gospel of John where Christ identifies himself as the good shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep (John 10:11). The original oil on canvas painting from c. 1660 is currently being held in the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain.
It is characteristic of the Baroque period, combining religious themes with a tender and emotional portrayal of the Christ Child.
