This is a gorgeous rare set of three Clairfontaine hollow plates, for decoration, produced during the second half of the … Read more This is a gorgeous rare set of three Clairfontaine hollow plates, for decoration, produced during the second half of the 19th century in France. The series is called 'Chasse' (Hunt) and two of the plates depict game animals: a hare, and a pheasant. The third plate has the image of a hunting dog chasing quail from the brush.

It is unusual now to find transfer ware in two colours from this period.

They are in good condition, without chips or cracks. Although each plate is a slightly different hue, the hare plate is the lightest and the others are slightly darker and slightly tea stained. There are some signs of wear and a fabrication mark on the rim of one plate.
