The painting appears to be unique and hand-accomplished, and the paper has a very nice woven look to it (seen under magnification). The wood is lacquered and also attention-grabbing. I've just guessed at the age when I check off "80s."

I am assuming it's Japanese, but I suppose it could be Chinese, but that's only a "maybe" in my estimation. Along with the vessel, this arrangement has all the look of a Japanese ikebana tour de force.
