The image displays a framed abstract textile artwork known from the period of the 19th Century as "Crazy Quilt." Dark, moody colored luxurious satin and textured fabric scraps numbering almost 50 total are meticulously hand-stitched together with varied colored threads in green, mauve and gold thread. The material is in various tones of gold, cream, purple, green, black, browns and blue in stripes and satin.. There is a 2 inch black paper matte surrounding the entire textile art. The hand stitching is in varied decorative styles as well. The textile art has been framed properly and is protected by glass and is surrounded with a custom soft gold finish frame.
What makes this a unique piece is its historical reference to the American Gas Light Association, Cincinnati, Ohio, October 1885. This was a significant event in American Industry. The American Gas Light Association held a meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio in that year. The framed piece speaks to the domestic and artistic endeavors of the period, the Gaslight Association gatherings highlights the advancements in industrial technology of that time.
