An expressive and wonderfully textured mid-century still life composition that presents a simple yet compelling arrangement of everyday kitchen objects, executed in oil onto canvas.

At the centre sits a copper kettle, its warm reddish-brown tones catching the light with subtle shifts of dark brown and russet. Behind it rises a blue bottle topped with a stark black dispenser, its vertical form contrasting the rounded bulk of the kettle. In the foreground, a small stove burner anchors the composition, rendered in deep greys and blacks.

The artist has used a confident impasto technique, laying down thick, textured strokes of oil paint that emphasise form and surface over fine detail. The palette is restrained yet striking: earthy browns, deep blues, and muted greys set against a pale, neutral background. The brushwork is vigorous and directional, with strong diagonals and broken passages of paint that create both structure and movement within the scene.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
