An expressive and dynamic mid-century landscape painting scene of houses nestled in rolling green hills, and executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1953.

At the centre, a farmhouse with a sloping roof and chimney is flanked by a smaller outbuilding, both painted in earthy tones that anchor the scene. A winding track leads the viewer’s eye into the composition, curving through undulating fields of luminous greens that dominate the canvas. In the distance, clusters of trees and layered hills create a sense of depth and seclusion, while above, the sky is rendered with expressive strokes of pale blue, violet, and white.

The style is boldly modernist, with loose, energetic brushwork and a sense of immediacy in execution. Colours are vibrant yet natural, dominated by shifting greens, ochres, and deep blues, accented by flashes of light that suggest fleeting sun across the fields.
