My late husband Michael Chung dabbled in designing furniture and at that time he was fascinated with cabriole legs found in antique Chinese furniture. He was determined to use them in a modern functional design. The material used was old elm wood that used to be wood pillars or beams from abandoned temples. As it turned out, these old wood pieces were excellent for furniture making, as the wood has aged and mellowed. The clean line cabinet has an overhang mitered top. The body is divided into small compartments. Used as a hall cabinet, it is excellent for holding keys, or sun glasses. The elm wood has beautiful graining. The design is entirely original, it is a functional piece even though the look is a little quirky. See less
