A superb example of post-war French ceramic art, this large oval platter is a signature work from Jacques Pouchain’s L'Atelier Dieulefit. The piece is dominated by a boldly incised fish, a recurring and iconic motif for the artist. Rendered not with realism but with a graphic, primitive energy, the creature is defined by confident geometric lines and patterns against a rustic, speckled glaze.
