Peter Baczek received his BA in Art with a particular concentration in Printmaking from San Jose State University in 1970. He subsequently studied Intaglio with Eleanor Rappe at the Fort Mason Art Center in San Francisco. Over the years, he has participated in national and international competitions and has been the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards. A member of the Boston Printmakers Association, he has participated in many group shows in galleries and museums, including the Berkeley Art Center, the Triton Museum, the Tokyo Art Museum, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Tucson Museum of Art and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. Peter Baczec's work is held in numerous public and private collections including in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the Tucson Museum, the California Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Library of Congress among others.

Peter Baczec has said:
"I choose to create cityscapes through a more refined interpretation of the scene before me. The use of shadow, texture, and value establish areas of movement and light that can create a certain mood. The broad mass of walls, roads, or sky act as compositional components and establish areas of color and light that can create a certain mood in the finished work."
