The sculpture displays the bold style characteristic of high-quality Chinese jade carving during the mid to late twentieth century. Flowing incised striping and carved details accentuate the animal's powerful anatomy, while the exceptional polish reveals the stone's natural variations in tone, ranging from deep forest green to olive with lighter veining and subtle mineral inclusions.
