This brilliant, softcover/wraps catalogue, features Picasso's voluminous art works of his muses, both in black and white and color. He created most of these works in 1937, (the same year as "Guernica,") as a reaction to the turmoil the Spanish Civil War had on its people, who also feared the threat of global war. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art hosted this first-time large exhibit of his Cubist Muse portraits. They represented his complex relationships with them, including Olga Koklova, his estranged first wife, Marie-Thérèse Walter, his mistress. and Dora Maar, the surrealist photographer and his lover, who was the primary model for this series. This large book is in very good clean, bright and unmarked condition - as if unread. The stunning art is especially as relevant today, as it was nearly 90 years ago.
