DIMENSIONS: The plates have a diameter of 9 3/4" with a height of 1".
HISTORY/MARKS: Begun in the 1850's, Vogt & Dose became Tressemann & Vogt when Emillien Tressemann joined the company in 1882. This was a decorating studio which began manufacturing their own china in 1891 in Limoges, France. The company continued until it was dissolved in 1907.
From 1907-1919, the company operated as Porcelain Gustave Vogt under the direction of Gustave Vogt, John Vogt's son, and continued to use the T&V mark. T&V is well known for its quality whiteware and boldly decorated hand paintings. The marks used on these plates are the manufacturers overglaze decorator's mark in purple referenced in Mary Frank Gaston's Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition as mark #16a used 1907-1919. There is also the green underglaze mark mark #7 used 1892-1907. So the circa is 1907. The importer, Higgins & Seiter, operated in New York in the 1887-1915 time period.
