Bold, graphic and colorful, this abstract geometric needlepoint makes a fantastically vibrant statement. Beautifully framed in an ebonized hardwood frame with a pop of yellow, we love the original framing choice as it gives the needlepoint the perfect amount of presence.
The intensity of the colors chosen almost feels juicy. The artist opted to create his/her work with a central composition and plenty of contrasting black space around the colorful portion. Doing so brings the viewer in very quickly as one is compelled by the design and movement within the piece.
We see the influence of Frank Stella, Richard Mortensen, Olle Baertling, Shirley Jaffe and Tadeusz Lalinowski. The colors selected and their adjacencies contribute to the visual language and contribute to an established and ongoing art dialogue.
