Vintage HERA Glazed Porcelain China 56-PC Dinnerware Set circa 1930s by Herbert Perje for Gefle Porslinsfabrik
Often referred to in Sweden as “flint” or “flintgods” describing the warm creamy ecru body of high-quality porcelain ceramic in a beautiful rich glaze. The HERA pattern is from a copper engraving by Gefle artist Herbert Perje featuring a large stylized flower and butterfly with an undulating scalloped border on the rim in espresso brown. This pattern was produced by Gefle between 1935 and 1938.
Included in this set are 56 original pieces in overall very good vintage condition. Normal use has produced a beautiful crazed pattern to the glaze and there are a few darker areas as soon.. They are quite lovely! Note most photos taken with studio lighting. The last three photos are with daylight only.

Gefle Porslinsfabrik was a celebrated Swedish porcelain manufacturer founded in Gävle in 1910 until 1936 when they merged with Upsala-Ekeby Group. The company ceased production in 1979. Known for both practical utility ware and artistic ceramic pieces, Gefle employed prominent artists and designers like Herbert Perje. Gefle Porslinsfabrick became a significant maker of art deco and mid-century modern ceramics, appreciated by collectors for its quality and blend of function and art.
Herbert Perje was an artist and designer who specialized in copperplate engravings for Gefle transferware. His work is featured in many museums and private collections - most notably in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England. He designed for Gefle for over 40 years.
