Stunning vintage Chinoiserie Tobacco Leaf bowl with vibrant hand painted colors. This is a beautiful piece, and a slightly different take on the traditional tobacco leaf motif. The white porcelain is painted in shades of red, mint green, yellow, cobalt blue, turquoise, rose pink, melon and gold color trim. This is a beautiful piece and it looks amazing on a coffee table or side table or use it as a small catchall in entry or desk. Not for food use. It is in very good vintage condition!
Tobacco Leaf, one of the most prized of Chinese Export patterns, was developed circa 1780, probably for the Portuguese and Brazilian markets - though examples have also been found in other European countries and in North America. The design shows the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant
Made in Hong Kong.
