A striking pair of Acoma Pueblo pottery jars, each hand-coiled and painted in the bold black, white, and oxblood red geometric tradition for which Acoma pottery is celebrated. Both are signed by members of the Sarracino family, a well-known line of Acoma artists.
The first jar, signed F. Sarracino and dated 1987, is by Florence Sarracino, an established Acoma potter. It features finely painted triangular and star-like motifs in alternating panels of black, white, and red, with strong linear precision and striking contrast.
The second jar, signed DSA Acoma, N.M., is likely the work of D. Sarracino. This example carries a more complex, layered composition: interlocking zig-zags, bold vertical striping, and red and black geometric panels that create rhythmic movement around the rounded form.
Together, these jars showcase the mastery of line, balance, and symmetry that defines Acoma pottery. The combination of traditional forms with dynamic surface decoration makes this pair a vibrant addition to a collection of Native American pottery or Southwestern art.
The Florence Sarracino piece is 5.25" in diameter and 3.75" high.
The D. Sarracino piece is 5.25" in diameter and 4.5" high.
