A striking pair of hand-painted Mata Ortiz seed pots, each signed by the artist. Crafted in Chihuahua, Mexico, circa late 20th century, these pieces belong to the celebrated Casas Grandes (Paquimé) pottery tradition, revived and carried forward by Juan Quezada and his community.
The pot by Benita Moreno is adorned with fine triangular, zig-zag, and geometric panels, while the pot by Alvaro Ledezma showcases bold checkerboard and cross-hatched motifs. Executed in a classic palette of black, cream, and oxblood red, both vessels are thin-walled, precisely balanced, and beautifully finished, reflecting the artistry and innovation for which Mata Ortiz pottery is renowned.
The Moreno is 3.75" in diameter and 2" high.
The Ledezma is 3.75” in diameter and 1.75” high.
