Antique folk art galloping horse figurine, c.1850
Not sure of its origin but possibly French.
Made of burlap hessian fabric and stuffed with straw around a wood frame. The burlap has been painted black. The ears are leather, the eyes are glass and the hooves, nose and mouth are carved wood and then painted to show detailed features. The mane looks like horse hair. The horse has a custom made iron stand. Good antique condition with some age holes and old restoration in places and has a dusty finish.
