A mid-century still life that presents a striking composition of dark-toned vessels arranged upon a patterned textile, with a sculptural abstract form set against a deep plum backdrop, executed in oil onto canvas.

At the forefront, a tall, slender vase and a rounded jug with a curving spout anchor the scene, their reflective surfaces rendered in moody blacks and greys. A geometric rug in red, blue, and white injects rhythm and contrast, its bold lines echoing the angular presence of the white sculptural form behind.

Executed in oil, the painting reflects a restrained yet expressive mid-century sensibility. The palette is rich but muted – dominated by deep reds, greys, blacks, and earthy neutrals – balanced by the vibrant textile. The brushwork is confident, with layered textures that build form and volume while leaving visible the artist’s hand.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wide wood frame finished in tones of soft grey with brown accents along the edges. The painting displays some craquelure, though the paint layer remains stable overall. There is a very small area of paint loss to the upper half of the picture, as shown in the close up photo. The frame shows some scuffs consistent with age as well.
