A bold minimalist landscape screen print by Toni Carner (American, b. 1957). From an aerial view, the ocean is represented as a large patch of solid blue, while portions of land frame the water above and below in various muted tones. This piece won the James D. Phelan Purchase award and was a part of the California Prints exhibit at the Oakland Museum in 1975.
Numbered, titled, and signed along the bottom edge.
Toni Carner, a native Californian from the San Joaquin Valley, is a graduate from the University of California, Berkley, 1963. She has pursued a dual career as serigrapher and art educator on the San Francisco peninsula. Her silk screen works have been shown and received awards in competitive exhibitions including the California State Fair and Exposition, Oklahoma National Print Competition, Central California Art League Annual and the De Anza Regional Print Competition.
