An extraordinary pair of shell-encrusted wall brackets by May River Neptune, blending coastal romance with old-world coquillage artistry. Richly layered with oyster, mussel, and collected sea shells from the Calibogue Sound off the coasts of Daufuskie Island and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, these sculptural brackets evoke the spirit of European shell grottos and grand seaside estates.

Crafted from gilt wood and resin, the brackets have been transformed into one-of-a-kind decorative objects with remarkable texture, movement, and natural patina. The composition of shells creates an organic, almost coral-like surface that feels both timeless and dreamlike.

The artist behind May River Neptune, known to collectors as Fancy, draws inspiration from a lifelong connection to the Southern coastline. Raised between Charleston and Bluffton, South Carolina, she began collecting shells as a child along Sullivan’s Island, Edisto Beach, and the waterways of the Lowcountry. Today, she continues to gather many of the shells used in her work by hand, incorporating them into assemblage pieces that celebrate coastal memory, antiquarian beauty, and the art of imperfection.

With a background in art history and high-end interior design, Fancy creates sculptural objects that bridge decorative art and functional design. Working from her cottage studio on the May River in Bluffton, SC, she produces one-of-a-kind shell-encrusted furniture, lighting, mirrors, wall brackets, and decorative accessories sought after for their whimsical elegance and collected character.

These brackets are beautiful flanking a mirror, doorway, console, or fireplace and bring warmth, texture, and seaside fantasy to both traditional and modern interiors.
