Extremely robust and exquisitely built from solid mahogany, composed of three solid, unjoined boards: one at the top centre and two dropping on each side. The cabriole legs, ending in claw-and-ball feet, have delightful proportions.
When extended, the leaves are held by pieces of wooden slide rails hidden in the core of the table; this system avoids the need for extra legs, as most of the other drop-leaf tables do, so the symmetry is not broken when the leaves are down.
This item is in great vintage condition, with minor scuffs and blemishes appropriate to its age and use.
