Hang Hong Naga, a sacred and protective decorative element of a Buddhist temple. Carved wood, remnants of colors and mica inlays.
Kingdom of Siam, late Ayuatthaya period (late 18th century)
It is found on the lateral edges of temple roofs (lower edges of gables or at the ends of lateral rafters) and is almost always below the chofa.
The Hang Hong is an element carved in bas-relief, while the chofa is often sculpted in the round.
